At Maine Star Coons, breeding is more than a program — it is a promise. A promise to raise exceptional Maine Coons with integrity, compassion, and a lifelong commitment to every family who welcomes one of our kittens.
Back to HomeMaine Star Coons was founded in 2019 from a genuine love for the extraordinary Maine Coon breed. What began as admiration quickly became a lifelong commitment to raising healthy, affectionate, and well-socialized companions. Located in the sunniest city in Canada - Medicine Hat, Alberta, our home is where each kitten begins their journey surrounded by warmth, structure, and intentional care.
Maine Coons have a fetish for water, can learn to play fetch, are extremely docile, calm and loving in nature. They also do well with canine friends and make a great companion overall. All kittens are handled from birth to experience and learn that humans only want to love them. As a result, they are very friendly, cuddly, affectionate and of course they love to play! Our cattery is comprised mostly of European bred lines that have been imported from overseas. Thus, they are the exotic Maine Coon type. These features are passed to the offspring with that adorable grumpy look we all adore. We are a small cattery and only offer a few litters a year which are raised in home.
We believe breeding is a responsibility — not just a passion. Every pairing is thoughtfully selected to preserve strong bloodlines, excellent temperament, and the majestic beauty that makes Maine Coons so beloved around the world.
From birth, our kittens are raised in our home environment, exposed to everyday interaction and handled daily with patience and affection. This early socialization helps ensure confident, loving, and adaptable companions.
Each kitten receives comprehensive veterinary care, proper nutrition, and structured development before joining their forever families. We remain dedicated to ethical breeding standards, transparency, and lifetime breeder support.
Our kittens are safely desexed at 4 months of age at the recommendation of our veterinarian and we attend all surgeries as well. It's been observed first hand (while attending surgeries over the years) that a few females had started ovulation at only 4 months. Pregnancy at that young of age could result in severe complications, including death. Nature as they say can be cruel at times. As their guardians we ensure that isn't possible, so kittens are desexed before leaving. Also, while being under sedation that's when they are microchipped, so they don't have to feel any unnecessary pain. If you are waiting for your kitten, you will be contacted as soon as surgery is completed for your peace of mind that they are in recovery.
Comprehensive vet care, genetic awareness, and responsible breeding practices.
Kittens are nurtured inside our home for proper socialization and bonding.
We remain available for guidance and support long after adoption day.
